St. Charles Lwanga and the Uganda Martyrs Pray for Us

Today is the feast of St. Charles Lwanga and the Uganda Martyrs. The children pictured above are from St. Bonaventure  School in Uganda. They have a Children’s Rosary which meets weekly on Fridays at 4PM local time. During Lent we extended an invitation to have children and adults say our Children’s Rosary novena to saints of their choosing. Each child at St. Bonaventure school said a novena to a saint. There are 33 children at the school. Some of the children chose a martyr from Uganda. Fr. Tadeo also pictured above helped to coordinate this effort. We are grateful for his help. These are the saints that were prayed to in a nine day novena by at least one child at St. Bonaventure School:
Sts Kizito, Patrick, Edward, Mbaaga Tuzinde, Mathias Mulumba, Josephine Bakhita, Maria Goretti, John Bosco, St. Theresa, Charles Lwanga, Francis of Assisi, Peter, Agnes, John Paul II, Noah Mawaggali, Gonzaga Gonza, Joseph, Atanansio Bazzekuketta, Mary, Elizabeth, Stephen, Margaret, Mark, Jose Maria Escriva.

As there were 33 children, some of the children happened to have selected the same saint as another child at the school so some of the saints had multiple novenas prayed to them. It is beautiful today on the Feast of the Uganda Martyrs to reflect on these prayers that were said by the children asking for the intercession of these saints.

The intention for which they each prayed a novena is included below in blue along with directions for saying the novena.
Although we extended this invitation in Lent this effort to invite more saints to help the Children’s Rosary continues. We would like to continue until all the saints in heaven have been prayed to in a nine day novena. To see a list more than 800 saints that have each had a novena said to them click HERE. If you would like to say a novena to a saint for the intention listed below please let us know when it is completed by writing to blythe@childrensrosary.org
Thank you

Please say the intention below daily for 9 days along with an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be each day. Also at the beginning of the novena ask the saint to become a member of the Children’s Rosary and pray with us and for us.

MAY THE CHILDREN’S ROSARY, THEIR FAMILIES, THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHILDREN’S ROSARY INCLUDING OUR PRIESTS, OUR BISHOP AND OUR HOLY FATHER THE POPE BE THE EXTENDED HANDS OF OUR BLESSED MOTHER AND HER SON.  MAY WE GATHER A GREAT MANY SOULS ESPECIALLY YOUNG PEOPLE FOR THE LORD.  MAY WE EXPERIENCE RENEWAL OF FAMILY PRAYER AND SPREAD IT ACROSS THE GLOBE. IN A SPECIAL WAY WE ASK EACH SAINT TO CHOOSE AN INDIVIDUAL, FAMILY OR A PRIEST, ASSOCIATED WITH OUR CHILDREN’S ROSARY GROUP TO LEAD IN THEIR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY. DEAR SAINT PRAY FOR OUR EXTENDED GROUP THAT WE MAY EMBODY THE VIRTUES YOU EXEMPLIFIED HERE ON EARTH.

To become a member of the Children’s Rosary one only has to tell the Lord in their heart of their desire to be a part of our group.  You will then be included in all the novenas being said and all of the rosaries being prayed daily.
